The Chosen and The Wanted people.
The Chosen and the Wanted people.
When humans
evolved on Terinta they became a very dominating fixture to the world. Unlike
other animals, humans grew complex social believes that caused the race to
think it was better than the other creatures on Terinta. This feeling of
entitlement grew deep in the hearts of humanity. The issue became a concern for
the God that created this world and so in reasons only known to Him the Great
One of Terinta came to a tribe of nomadic humans and changed something in an
unborn child’s DNA. When the child was born the tribe was shocked to find that
the baby had what appeared to be gloved hands. The gloves were a dark blue
color and while odd, the child was perfectly fine. In fact it was such a minor
anomaly that neighboring tribes would simply think that the baby had cute
little gloves on its hands. However as time progressed more children in other
tribes began to be born with gloved hands. As more and more children began to
be born with gloved hands many humans began to become concerned. The children
were perfectly fine as they grew, in fact they had a slight advantage to people
who didn’t have gloved hands because they could use magic more fluently. As the
years passed into decades and then centuries the human race had to face a deep
philosophical and religious shift. Humans thought that they were the perfect
race, and because of this their form would never change. But this deep belief
was challenged by the ever growing population of humans that had gloved hands.
In response to this conflict of reality and belief humanity began to segregate
and shun the people with gloved hands. Many of the people with gloved hands
were thrown out of tribes or treated as second class citizens. The problem
became so dire that one of the humans with gloved hands prayed to the Great One
to beg to know why this was happening. The Great One answered the woman’s
prayer and revealed to her the truth and reason why some had gloved hands and
others didn’t. The Great One told her that the people with gloved hands are His
Chosen race and that they were blest by him. In excitement at this revelation
the woman ran to her tribe and told everyone what she had learned. While many
people were also excited by this, the vast majority of people without gloved
hands didn’t like the implications. In an act of defiance many tribes got
together and threw out all of the people with gloved hands. They then named
themselves the Wanted race. The Great One saw this act of defiance and allowed
it to happen, looking upon the human’s without gloved hands as a greedy and
loathsome people.
The Wanted
and Chosen races were fractured for many years. But as humanity grew and began
to build villages, towns, and cities, ideas began to change. Wars were raged
over which race was more important, or loved by the Great One. But none of
these wars answered the questions they had, as such many people began to think
that the Chosen race really were not so different from the Wanted race. It took
many more years, fighting, and great prejudice but eventually the Chosen and
Wanted people of Terinta came together again.
Now it just appears
that half the population of humans just were gloves all the time.
